Serving local favorites like Martin Rosol 10" hot dogs, chili dogs made with the original family recipe, steamed cheeseburgers, fries, handmade onion strings, and Avery's sodas.
The history of the original Rosie's dates back to 1958. The Latino family ran a small grocery store in Southington, CT. Angie Latino's cooking became well-known when she would cook for her family in the back of the store until customers enjoying the delightful aromas began asking to buy her meatball grinders. In the 1970's, they began serving chili on hot dogs and the store became a deli. They named it Rosie's after their daughter, who eventually took it over. The business became famous for their chili dogs and people flocked from all over to enjoy them. The business was operated on and off by Rosie and Eddie Barr through the 1980's and 90's until it finally closed in 1998. Ever since then, their son Chris has had the dream to revive the family business.
In 2020, Chris Barr and a partner, Stacey Golub, opened Drafty Donuts out of a big pink trailer in East Hampton, CT. That business began in response to the Covid pandemic resulting in the cancellation of fundraising events at Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue, which Stacey founded and Chris was involved as a volunteer. A portion of the profits supported the rescue and the business logo featured Duchess, the Shire horse that Chris adopted. Chris never gave up on his dream of reviving the family business and in 2021, the pair decided to remodel the trailer and their business to bring back his grandmother's and mother's famous family recipes. The big pink trailer was moved to the front of Showcase Auto, which Chris owned, and the new logo was created to reflect the original Rosie's logo and his grandfather's old Cadillac, now proudly owned by Chris.
